A durational piece created for Culture Night.
Standing on the terrace of the Source Arts Centre, you are witnessing three women gathered behind the glass panels of a theatre hall. Pushed out of their life’s orbit they slow down to rebuild their steps with unbreachable confidence.
Orbiting like wandering stars? heroines of no novel? bewildered animals? Unique and universal, they randomly intersect at the crossroad of past images and projected futures. They trace their way, swirling behind the glass window like the dolls of ancient automatons, sitting in loneliness like characters of a Hopper painting.
Created in the aftermath of the first COVID-19 lockdown in spring 2020, this work investigates the re-building of confidence, rooted in minute details of intentions and attentions, keeping in mind how confinement reminded us the virtues of a drastic slowdown.
